Can anyone tell me what vitamins that are good for Parkinson Patients? My husband is on Coumadin also, so we have to be careful on vitamin "K" intake.
Some factors -- his age, his usual food intake, any other diagnoses (like congestive heart failure, diabetes, etc.), any medications he's using. Long-time Sinemet users may have a need for extra B vitamins; many people with PD aren't getting enough calcium, and often not enough magnesium or vitamin D. But there's just no simple answer. Each person is unique, and each person with PD is affected differently, and therefore nutrition needs are unique to the individual.
With regard to his use of coumadin, he still needs vitamin K -- it's a necessary nutrient for bone health. Most professionals agree that the important thing is to maintain about the same daily intake of vitamin K. The coumadin can be titrated (increased or decreased) according to the blood clotting tests your husband regularly gets.
