Great idea...to act as if time and an appointment is no big deal. And yes you are so right, when I ask him, are you aware we are going to be late if you don';t hurry, I get the yep and nope answers...grrrrrrr....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, you all spoke my mind---here's the way I expressed it some time ago:
"PARKINSON TIME"
Parkinson Time is...
...when moments become eternity,
moving "with all deliberate speed", as if court-ordered.
A frustrating eon links intent and action.
I bite my tongue, and stay my hand...
watching the clock that,
hurrying toward decision,
brooks no delay ...
knowing my gentlest prompting
will be futile...
knowing we will again be late
for whatever business summons us...
knowing it can't be helped.
My husband thinks that time is for people who work. Not people who are retired and taking life easy. I use the Serenity Prayer very often only the short version.
My PWP just told me he was going to bed and was very surprised when I said it was 2:00 in the afternoon. He has no sense of time whatsoever, either time of day or what day it is or what month. The fact that its dark doesn't seem to matter. The fact that I'm in the kitchen cooking and the table is set does not indicate that it might be near suppertime. I would really be lost with a sense of time, it must be very hard without it. I know it is.
With my husband, it takes him forever to get tasks accomplished due to bradykinesia and poor dexterity. I find I have to exercise patience a lot. My husband has always been an extremely punctual person, so this slowing down is hard to accept. In my husbands case, I don't think the slowing down has anything to do with his sense of time but rather his lack of ability to move any faster.
I think you have the right idea about slower movements opposed to time concept. My husband has also has always been very punctual. Now it takes him MUCH longer to accomplish anything. I know he realizes he has slowed a lot. Yet I don't think HOW MUCH he has slowed Because of his balance and unsteady gait, he will make several trips from one spot to another. If I try to help he gets a tad angry. So I try really hard to take one of Camilla's' patience pills and bite my tongue. Isn't this the PITS? And I don't mean cherry pita.
